There is a new article on ASPtoday called Integrating SOAP with SharePoint Web Parts. It makes the point "By integrating SOAP and web services into Web Parts, you can take SharePoint to the next level and provide your users with access to the wide variety of web services available today." If you are a non subscriber with a credit card you can buy this article here. Thanks to Richard Fitzpatrick for letting me know about it.
