Developers have Jan Tielens and Fons Sonnemans to thank for the ability to put .NET User contols into Web Parts and link them directly to the SharePoint Object Model. For non-developers this may not seem important, but this will mean a lot of .NET developers will start tackling SharePoint when they didn't know where to start before, thanks guys! and there'll be less Web Parts full of HTML.

Also take a look at Maurice Prather's Web Part Toolkit, a few useful things in there, like a tool for installing assemblies. Maurice also has an interesting explanation of ghosted Vs non-ghosted files in SharePoint, look at a link to his blog and a few other new ones on my blogs page.

The new book is the SharePoint Resource Kit which is out now. I know for example Maurice Prather's Web Part Toolkit is in there.

My Knowledge Base articles page is up to date too, though I know a lot of people are mow subscibing directly for an update on the latest SharePoint KB articles from KB Alertz via RSS. I'll keep doing what I'm doing because its useful to be able to search in one place for lots of things and that's what I use SPSFAQ for.

There are also links to articles below on subjects like Web Services, Security, a way to change the Tool Pane of your Web Parts and a Web Part for viewing multiple RSS feeds.

My Jobs page is off to a good start, there's a couple of jobs up there in the US and the UK, so take a look! I registered the domains www.sharepointjobs.com and www.sharepointrecruitment.com for only about $9 each and redirected them to the jobs page on SPSFAQ using GoDaddy. The internet has got very cheap these days.

And SPSFAQ will soon be a little more evil. There are Google ads already, but I'm adding links to advertisements on the site soon. It took a bit of thought to take this step. I've decided it is OKto make a bit of cash out of the site as long as I don't annoy my visitors or sell anything that's dodgy or unethical (anything you get a spam about basically). So, this will happen soon, hopefully, it'll not make any great impact on you my valued reader, you might even want to click some of the ads!
