This is a good article on the MS SharePoint blog:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/sharepoint/archive/2008/05/27/how-we-did-it-australia-national-native-title-tribunal-website-advanced-web-content-management.aspx

Because it higlights some very important concepts you need to understand when doing a SharePoint implementation. The first this the importance of content types and columns. I have said before they are the DNA of your information architecture. They also used features to manage and deploy them, and a SharePoint list to plan them, a good idea.

This project was public-web enabled, so there are some specific good tips there about removing core.js since users are just reading and not using a lot of the document management features. It also required a custom site definition.

There is also a good description of the content migration process. It is a process of repetition and checking the content migrated properly. I will write my own case study here of that process to show what is involved.
